Dave’s favorite activities include water skiing, golf, having fun with his family and friends. Dave’s unofficial second career is “Big Wave Dave’s Ski School” where he entertains friends and family at the lake and teaches or tortures them depending on your prospective, while dragging them through, if they learn slowly, or on the water if they get up. If you don’t ski you can bounce around on a tube at what seems like 50 miles an hour until you fall off, better to do this before lunch. David, Dave’s son, actually broke his nose once when he was getting a ride from Dave. He said “it was so much fun he’d do it again”. Now that’s a great endorsement. 

Dave took up golf several yeas ago.  He enjoys being out on the course with people he meets there…….of course no one is a stranger to Dave after the first meeting. Would you believe that not very long after starting to play he got not one but two Hole-In-Ones and a Double Eagle, 3 under par on one hole, all within a month! He says he hasn’t hit a straight shot since. We had clients calling and e-mailing asking if that was “their” Dave when they read about it in the paper.  

His wife Maryann is also a big part of the company. She’s like a mother hen and has a very big heart.  She loves to entertain and makes the best cookies in the world! Just ask our clients and friends who were at the RFS Open House in 2009. Maryann has her own business as a Shaklee Distributor and mentors people about wellness, longevity and green lifestyle issues.  

Besides David Jr. who works at RFS, Dave and Maryann have two other children. Their daughter Michelle is at the U of A. She will be earning her degree in Animal Science and will graduate in 2011. After school she hopes to find a job in the field she loves…...working with animals, riding horses and dating cowboys. Her favorite skiing is snow skiing and whenever there is great snow between semesters she and her dad hit the slopes.  Their youngest son Matthew worked at RFS until he decided to start his own business. He owns Brisk Link Technologies a computer repair, computer/identity security and internet marketing/web Design Company.  

Dave is the founder of Retirement Financial Services, Inc., in Tucson, Arizona, is a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner (CFP®). He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Kearney State College, Kearney, Nebraska in 1981. In 1986, Dave started his own firm so he could work for his clients and not for any “company’s interests”. 

Dave has taught the Financial Strategies for Successful Retirement and Lifelong Financial Security retirement workshops at Pima Community College, various employers and for charitable organizations in Tucson. He received the Excellence in Financial Education award in December 1996 from Successful Money Management Seminars, Inc. for helping develop the Lifelong Financial Security workshop, offered nationwide by financial planning professionals. He has served on the Members Advisory Council for Successful Money Management Seminars, Inc.  

He has written several articles on retirement and retirement planning for the Arizona Senior World, the Tucson Citizen, BusinessWeek.com and has been quoted by fundaction.com, CNNMOney.com ….. Dave has been interviewed on local TV and CNBC as well as Foxbusiness.comLive. Dave is a co-author of FINANCIAL SUCCESS IN THE YEAR 2000 AND BEYOND: 13 Experts Tell You How, by St. Lucie Press, 1999. He also contributed to “Beating the Midas Curse” ……… and is working on his next book with David “Shepherd Your Wealth”.
